Here is a taste of the new editorials shot in Miami from figphoto fashion photographer billy rood.
The stories have themes of nostalgia, dreams, luxury & of course Miami. They were shot from sunrise to sunset, on South Beach, the Park Central Hotel, & the exclusive Fisher Island. To view the rest of the stories make sure to check out http://www.figphoto.net.
If you haven’t already watched, make sure you check out the behind the scenes video from the 2 day editorial shoots!
figphoto’s fashion photographer billy rood was in Miami shooting some editorials for FACTIO magazine w/ his makeup & hair team of Jessica Mazik & Anthony Baltazar. It was billy rood’s first time in Miami and working with agencies such as 301 Models, NEXT, & MC2 Models in Miami. His models were selected based upon 3 stories that he developed, to show a side of Miami that Chicago hasn’t seen and also to show a new softer side of his photography. From lighting, to using new filters and dealing w/ mother nature on his shoots, we are very excited to show the final images that will be appearing in FACTIO Online in less than 7 days!
Here are some exclusive behind the scenes photos and videos from his shoot!
fig photographer billy rood’s recent photos from some new faces at FACTOR Women & a video test w/ Kaitlyn with Agency Galatea.
Alyssa, Mariah, Sarah, Elia, Dana, & Kaitlyn (Agency Galatea) shot in a span of 3 days! The photos show the range of studio, on location, movement & beauty photography. Also using the shoots as experiments, billy rood shows some new post production ideas and techniques he might be developing for future shoots. fig studios is churning out some amazing work this month.
The first to hit the web in our partnership with FACTIO Magazine is an online designer preview. In partnership with Frost Lighting (Dennis Remer), Factio Magazine (Melissa Maynard and Henrique Kerch), and five up and coming designers. The fig team, lead by photographer Billy Rood, created the films below in relationship with the designers.
Billy has been hard at work the past year developing his fashion photography. An effort that fig media owners James Gustin and Michele Gustin have supported, fostered and encouraged. Through Billy’s hard work/passion, the teams dedication and our amazing interns we are proud to show off this first round of work and have so many surprises a long the way- you will not want to miss what we have coming up next!

If you missed it, or were rained in…we were there to cover both video & photo for the headlining fashion shows. Macy’s Designers of Chicago & Abigail Glaum-Lathbury for Fashion Focus. Macy’s presented the next great American designers in a runway exclusive. The presentation featured some of the names-you-need-to-know from Chicago’s design community and the 2009 Chicago Fashion Incubator Designers-in-Residence. If you missed it, no worries. Macy’s will carry some of their lines at Macy’s on State Street.
Abigail Glaum-Lathbury’s Spring 2010 collection was held in the west loop at Prairie Productions. A very modern and conceptual collection Abigail’s show was a breath of fresh air from the formal presentation. Guests were seated on planks of wood and blown up plastic cushions. Her show really reflected how she plays with the ideas of identity and sameness in a show that shifted the relationship between the audience and model.
