Fig clients Chad and Lorien gave up their 4th row tickets for game one- to get married. The wedding had already been planned. Not to fear, fig photogs (Brian Carey and James Gustin) had the bright idea to take the wedding party to United Center to take some photos. Even if they could not go to the game- why not take advantage of the timing?

What happened next was unexpected. The couple has been interviewed by several news stations and today a story ran on them in the Chicago Sun-Times. Quoted all over Chicago as the couple that just “wants the Blackhawks to win The Stanely cup, as a wedding gift.” And they got it! Congrats to the Hawks and to our couple.

Diehard Blackhawks fans Chad and Lorien Yonker had to give up their fourth-row tickets to Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals because of a slightly more important commitment: The game fell on the same day as their wedding. But that didn’t stop the South Loop couple from showing up at the United Center right after the wedding to pose for pictures with amused fans.”All we want for a wedding present is the Stanley Cup,” said Lorien Yonker, whose lace strapless gown stood out among the red Blackhawks jerseys and caps.

Erin and Erik at Fulton’s On The River, February 28th, 2009.

“It was a cold day. We convinced the bridal party to take photos outside- if they could wear their coats. The result are some beautiful photos- but not without some chattering teeth. They had a large bridal party- 7 people on each side.We started with Erin and Erik seeing each other for the first time in front of their place. We went over to the LaSalle St. Bridge, just outside of Fulton’s on the River for a “Reservoir Dogs” shot. The ceremony was held at Old St. Pat’s Cathedral. Just before the bride went into the church I captured her with the a Sears Tower backdrop, as Tim was with the guys waiting in the back room of the church. Fulton’s was the setting for the reception where fig’s DJ Erik entertained the crowd with a mix of music. At the end of the night we got Erin and Erik back on the bridge for one last photo opp.” ~ Brian Carey

I have worked with Kara Underwood of Magnificent Milestones on multiple events and I think she’s probably the best wedding planner to work with – from a vendor’s perspective. She lets me be the DJ, and I let her be the planner. The worst is a planner that thinks she knows how to do every job at a wedding better than the actual vendors providing them!

The first time I went into Smitten Boutique, I knew I had to buy something. Kirstin Martin has put the coolest wedding accessories under one roof and, even as a guy, I wanted to leave her store with a gift!

Why I am telling you about these two women? Because they have recently joined forces and are taking the Chicago wedding world by storm! Both offer planning services while Kara focuses custom invitations and Kristin focuses on wedding accessories and gifts. Their store at 1041 West Madison is a required destination for anyone getting married! As a bonus, bring in this blog entry or reference Fig Media and receive 10% off consulting, custom invites and everything in the boutique! Check them out at www.magnificentmilestones.com & www.smittenboutique.net.
