Change the Map; Tackling Chicago’s racist redlining practices.
Chicago Documentary Filmmakers at fig media create short films and virtual event using 36 years of data on lending practices in Chicago to expose racial injustice. The fig media team partnered with Woodstock Institute to create a stirring virtual media program for their annual virtual event. Tackling discriminatory lending practices in Chicago that contribute to poverty concentration, fig and Woodstock sought to shake up the systems that keep communities of color trapped in the poverty cycle. The feature length program contained short films, drone footage, live virtual production, motion graphics, voice over, breakout rooms and invite design.
In the wake of the civil unrest in 2020 new President and CEO of Woodstock Institute, Horacio Mendez, left his work in the financial sector and moved cross country to take on the systems that keep people in poverty. Wanting to introduce himself and reintroduce his team to the community Horacio sought a media company to partner with to bring their virtual event to life. Enter the team at fig media. Excited for the challenge, the team at fig created short films, motion graphics and a virtual event that left a lasting impression. The results stirred people up and exceeded the client's goals.
