Veuve Clicquot // Wish You Were Here

This project won the Best Branded Film Category in the Iphone Film Festival.

For the 103rd Race to Mackinac Island presented by Veuve Clicquot fig films was presented with a challenge.

The Veuve Clicquot team asked for short, fast and immediate media. Last year the fig films team produced the award winning documentary The Arrival for the 103rd race. With competition heating up on the internet for your attention, corporate video production houses are pressured to solve more, better, faster. The new style trend: professional video that looks “amateur.”  The reason? Social Media and mobile phones.

Our challenge

Cover 7 events in 4 days

5 in Chicago and 2 on Mackinac Island

Post Media to Social Networks every night.

Integrate Branding.

Make it look like a guest shot it.

The fig films team decided that if it was supposed to look like a guest shot it, that the filmmaker should be a guest at all the events.

Executive producers James Gustin and Andrew Ettenofer empowered fig director Melissa Martens to be this guest. Embeded with the Veuve Clicquot team, Melissa lived their lifestyle for a week. Shooting, editing and uploading content within 24 hours of each event.

How?

She did it all on her iphone.

Melissa designed the vimeo channel to match the champagnes branding, worked with teams to make sure all media was tagged with the right marketing campaigns and coordinated 4 teams of photographers and filmmakers to cover the events with photo.

Uploaded next day to social networks.

The Result

290,930 facebook impressions

673,000 twitter impressions

760 views of video within 1 week of posting.

Media in: Sailing Anarchy, Metromix, Chicago Sun Times, Sail World, Michigan Ave. Magazine, Factio Magazine, Chicago Social.

A customized social media channel populated with content that the client can share in the moment and use right away. With over 1 million + impressions on social media, blogs and partner sites; the client was fully supported to spread the event out fast. The iphone presented challenges and freedom. While the gear for shooting was smaller, the talent required to make something compelling was greater. The iphone is intimate, meaning it required Melissa to engage guests and clients more than she would with a traditional camera allowing her to work her directing skills and be a guest of Veuve Clicquot.
